There’s something magical about bread making.
How a teaspoon of yeast turns a bowl-full of flour and water into this:
You wait a bit, and shape it:
wait a bit more:
then put it into a vat of boiling water:
and you get this:
and finally this:
and the rest is silence – as having spread too many of these thickly with butter, and eaten them hot out of the oven (in the interests of scientific investigation, of course), I am sworn off food for life (-ish).
They were good, though.
And it really is that easy.
